Dr. Kimberly Schoen M.D.
Dr. Schoen is a Board-Certified Physician in Emergency Medicine. She attended the University of California at Berkeley, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. She attended medical school at the University of California in San Francisco and then returned to Los Angeles to complete her training at the LA County USC Medical Center. In 1991, she obtained her board certification in Emergency Medicine. Since moving to Boston in 2003, she worked in the emergency room at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital until joining AFC Urgent Care this July.
She has traveled extensively and has been to every continent with the exception of Antarctica. Her short-term goals include learning to speak French and Spanish fluently. Her long-term goal is to combine her medical knowledge and passion for travel by donating her services within the vast parts of the world that remain medically indigent .
Dr. Tomas Lichauco M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Tomas F. Lichauco is a Board Certified Physician in Family Medicine and Occupational Medicine. He grew up and was educated in the Philippines and the USA. Medical training and experience has included Manila, Boston, New York City, New Jersey as well as the US Air Force Clinic in Germany. He has practiced outpatient primary care family medicine in Dedham for 16 years. Over the last year, Dr. Lichauco has been involved with urgent care and occupational medicine in the greater Boston area. AFC Urgent Care is an ideal place to use broad knowledge and experience to meet a wide variety of medical needs every day.
A Boston native, Dr. Caplan’s completed his residency in Family Medicine at Boston University’s Boston Medical Center, after graduating from local schools, Williams College and Tufts University School of Medicine. He has worked at some of Boston’s premier healthcare facilities, including Codman Square Health Center, South Boston Community Health Center, Boston Medical Center, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Caplan practices full-spectrum Family Medicine, including Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology, with special interests in Adolescent Care, Sports Medicine, Psychiatry, Integrative Medicine, and Telemedicine.
In addition to his role as a primary and urgent care physician, Dr. Caplan enjoys teaching his patients about alternative pain management strategies, boosting natural physical and intellectual health, and the therapeutic use of meditation and integrative medicine for those coping with both short-term and chronic illnesses. He has published research on neuroimaging at the UCLA Brain Mapping Center, presented research on pediatric and adolescent growth and development at numerous Boston conferences, and has given grand rounds on the art of meditation in medicine, as well as the therapeutic use of magic and hypnosis in medicine. Dr. Caplan lives in Boston suburbs with his wife and daughter. He has traveled across more than 40 countries on six continents. He is fluent in Spanish, an avid performance magician of 21 years, a regular practitioner of Tae Kwon Do and Vipassana meditation, and a lifetime artist.
